I can’t remember my 7th birthday.  I sincerely wonder what it would be like to have a video like this to show to my wife, my son, close friends that I have made as an adult.  Thank you to Ryan for allowing me to peek in, experience and try to remember what it is like to be 7.

DEAR MOMMY is the perfect example of how a MEMENTO video piece should feel and function.  It gets a simple message across, captures the magic between the minutes, is appealing to the viewer and leaves the audience with a sense of joy.  As parents know, the weeds that are our children seem to grow and mature within the blink of an eye.

We are often caught up in our modern daily madness and robbed of the beauty in tying a shoelace.  Although we can’t always trade our Blackberrys for blue skies, an attempt to pay a gift forward to ourselves and document those “sunny days at the playground” is never too great of an investment.

Often the coolest things happen through the most serendipitous of circumstances.  The first and arguably best MEMENTO piece in many ways thus far is this one.

It was an unscheduled shoot and frankly I was just testing lenses.  What is important is that what the lenses captured, even the simplest of actions, those actions will not happen the same way ever again.  Since we shot these frames, her walk is different, her face has changed.  The floor she crawled across will likely remain a memory as the family grows and the home is sold.

What would otherwise be overlooked as the routine or mundane is logged for life for review and remembrance.  Her mom calls this peace simply “perfect.”

The fashion and function of announcing your pending nuptials has evolved from a simple card and traditional photo shoot to little lego people and blockbuster mini-movies starring the soon to be wedded couple.

Our take on the matter is simplicity and quality.  Communicate the information and reflect the couple.  If you are romantic, we will light some candles.  If you are humorous, we will cue the laugh track.

Check Mate is a perfect example of streamlining story and bringing the funny.  A simple chess match on a lazy afternoon becomes a foreshadowing of what may be to come in this couples blissful future as husband and wife.  If you’re preparing your vows and want to one up your friends that just got married…we can formulate a recipe for you to astound the masses.

Some fathers are carpenters.  Some are lawyers.  I get to hold a camera for a living.  I decided to put a little extra thought into the structure of THE RESCUE for my son was set to be the primary performer.  When considering locations and concepts for a MEMENTO session, the two most important things to remember are fun and time. It is mandatory for everyone to have a good time…but only as much good time fits into an hour.

Few individuals enjoy being in front of a camera.  Stress compounds matters when time is limited.  Whether the session is entirely improvised or loosely scripted a natural, authentic and casual environment will yield the best results.  With minor direction my son was able to deliver his Oscar worthy performance, under time and with charm to spare.  His mother was quite pleased.
